Barca sporting director, Andoni Zubizarreta, admitted that the news was true. According Zubizarreta, the Valdes has been steady to leave Barca before the negotiation begins.
"We held the first meeting to begin the process of contract renewal Victor. Meeting started with our express desire to extend his contract, because we regard it as a top class goalkeeper," said Zubizarreta was quoted as saying Football Espana.
"However, before we can apply or discuss anything, his agent said that the decision was made and thought out, and he's not going to last much longer than June 30, 2014. It is a decision that can not be changed anymore," he explained.
