Madrid Football Club with the Biggest Revenue
Real Madrid became the biggest soccer club by revenue in the world for the season 2011/2012. Los Merengues won over their arch-rivals, Barcelona and Premier League giants, Manchester United.
In the midst of the European economy in crisis, Madrid can still get tremendous revenue last season. In a report released by accounting firm Deloitte, the Spanish capital club's revenues reached 512.6 million euros, an increase of seven per cent.
Madrid became the first club to record revenues of over 500 million euros. Apart from the sale of tickets at the Santiago Bernabeu, they fill the coffers of money for television rights and sponsorship from all over the world.
Barca is in the second position. The Catalans earned 483 million euros, an increase of seven per cent.
Manchester United is in the third position recorded revenues of £ 320.3 million (395.9 million euros). This figure is down three percent compared to the previous year, which may be affected by the failure of the 'Red Devils' away from the Champions League group stage last season.
In fourth position is the German club, Bayern Munich, followed by Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City. AC Milan, Liverpool and Juventus complete the top ten positions.
"No change in the top six positions confirms the fact that the club has the biggest fan base and therefore have the greatest revenue, both in the domestic and international markets," said Dan Jones of Deloitte's sports division, told Reuters.
