Tottenham will play without Defoe for Week Three
Tottenham Hotspur certainly will not be able to use the services of Jermain Defoe for the next three weeks because of an ankle injury.

Defoe suffered an ankle injury when the Spurs won 1-0 at West Bromwich Albion last weekend. Defoe only played 36 minutes before being replaced by Lewis Holtby.

After that Defoe had to go home from the Hawthorns Stadium using crutches and a protective shoe on his left foot.

In a press conference ahead of the game contra Newcastle United on Saturday (09/02/2013) tomorrow, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed that Defoe suffered an ankle ligament problem in his left and had to rest about 2-3 weeks.

"He'll be back in two or three weeks. Defoe suffered slight damage to the ligaments. Ultimately it's good news because it may be more severe ankle injury. We are pleased with the results of this examination," said Villas-Boas at Soccernet.

Defoe this season has scored 10 goals and finished second top scorer in the Premier League clubs after Gareth Bale with 11 goals. In exchange for Defoe, the Spurs could use the services of the young striker Emmanuel Adebayor and Henry Kane.
